Welcome to Q²!
Q² is an inclusive, sober, supportive and open group with the purpose of supporting and creating a safe community in Fredericton, NB for people who are 2SLGBTQQIAP (two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, pansexual and anyone else outside the boxes of cisgender and heterosexual).
Q²’s management is composed of several admins, all of whom are people from the 2SLGBTQQIAP community, and management is non-hierarchical, meaning that all admins share the same level of responsibility for the group.

Q² will provide a safe meeting space (both physical space and online) for people in the Fredericton area to form connections and socialize, create a resource list* of 2SLGBTQQIAP services, resources, and safe spaces, as well as organize structured activities or outings, based on group members’ interests and feedback.

Guidelines

This group is inclusive (all ages, genders, orientations, ethnic and cultural origins).

Respect is expected and required. Respect the spaces we meet in. Respect each other. Respect yourself!

Disclosure of group member’s sexual orientation and gender identity is not required for membership. Do not assume that membership in this group means that somebody identifies under the 2SLGBTQQIAP umbrella as we also welcome allies. Feel free to identify however you would like to and please use the pronouns with which you are most comfortable (and respect others' pronouns!).

Homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, xenophobia, racism, ableism, misogyny and any other form of hate will not be tolerated. Any group members engaging in these behaviours will be asked to leave the group by an admin.

Excessive intoxication is not permitted. This group was created to provide an alternative safe space from the bar scene for the 2SLGBTQQIAP community, as historically, gay bars were often the only safe space for us to meet. As we recognize that not all members of our community consume alcohol or other substances, some may not be of the age of majority, and many would prefer not to be in the company of intoxicated people, we want this group to meet these needs.

All members must be respectful of emotional and physical boundaries – consent is key.

Do not share information about anybody in the group without their consent. Do not out anybody.

If you are taking photos at a group event, please ensure that you have received consent from anyone who is in the photo (including those in the background).

This group was created to encourage people forming connections while respecting the boundaries of each member. While it is not prohibited to form intimate connections with members of this group, this group is not intended for cruising.

Group admins are responsible for the overall safety and security of group members on our social media or at an event. As such, the admins are permitted to ask anyone to leave an event or remove a member from our social media if they are not adhering to these guidelines or are causing problems with safety.

Group members are encouraged to submit and discuss any ideas or suggestions for the group, as well as to bring any concerns to the admins. Please do this either by private conversation or private message.
